Working with Soundfiles
We introduced very basic concepts of recording and playing digital
audio files, using a sound editor (Amadeus) to do the original recording.
We also worked up a very simple Max/MSP application, showing how the
[sfplay~] object works, and contrasting it's use with the
soundfile playback capabilities of RTcmix in the [rtcmix~]
object.

Applications and Examples
Some sound editor applications:
- Amadeus
-- the application we use in class (OSX only)
- Audacity
-- another good public-domain soundfile editor, also runs on linux
and windows
- MiXViews
-- a popular linux/OSX editor, good anaylsis features (developed
by former Columbian Doug Scott -- go Lions!)
- Snd
-- very good linux (and I think OSX) soundfile editor written by
Bill Schottstaedt at Stanford's
CCRMA
Class examples:
- week2a-examples.sit
-- StuffIt archive with the class max/msp and rtcmix patches
individual patches as text files (for Windows users)
