A quick and non-exhaustive survey of the kinds of things that make us feel
unsafe/dirty/unhealthy in Prentis Hall. As these pictures were being taken
various students spontaneously volunteered to provide written accounts of
the ways in which they too feel unsafe/dirty/unhealthy working here.
We realize that some of these things seem minor -- a little concrete on the
floor of a classroom or on library books is not that big a deal -- except
that it will never be cleaned up unless the CMC staff does it with our own personal
vacuums.
To be fair, the renovations that took place a couple summers ago made a
huge difference, and things are better than they were. However, we're still
dealing with day-to-day, as well as historical, filth that comes out of the
nooks and crannies of Prentis, and constant small
things like debris that is never cleaned up, floods of water with
unknown provenance (how many asbestos ducts did that water run through before
falling on our stuff???) from leaks that we have complained about in the past to
no avail, "repairs" that are never really completed, etc.
