RTcmix is a public-domain, computer music synthesis/signal-processing language. It is based up on the older CMIX music language, and incorporates many of the features of CMIX into a real-time package (in fact, RTcmix is a C++ superset of the C-based CMIX). One of the features of the language is the use of internet protocols to extend and enhance the basic package, allowing a wide variety of controlling interfaces to be used. The talk will focus on this aspect of the language, demonstrating the capabilities of RTcmix using different hardware and software interfaces. RTcmix was co-written by Brad Garton and Dave Topper at Columbia University; CMIX was authored by Paul Lansky of Princeton University.
