enter,activity

The piece "enter, activity" is an interactive work for electric guitar and Virtual Orchestra. This composition explores a model of interactivity based on the conversation. In a real conversation the participants don't really know what the other speakers may say. In this composition, the participants are asked to manipulate and process the guitar signal independently of the composer/guitarist. The performers create their own parts based on a few simple instructions and are free to interact as they wish.

Software used for this performance includes Brad Garton and Dave Topper's Real Time Cmix, Luke DuBois' Real Time Cmix and Max/MSP interfaces, Seyo's Koan algorithmic composition generator and anything else we can find that makes 'cool' sounds.

The Virtual Orchestra
The Virtual Orchestra is a loosely defined group of digital signal processors and musicians from the Computer Music Center that are willing to alter a composer's music for the sake of interaction. This group may or may not include Terry Pender, Brad Garton, R. Luke DuBois, and Doug Geers.
