dorkbot anglia is a regular evening of talks and conversations with "people doing strange things with electricity" in the East Anglian area. We are delighted to announce our twelveth meeting as the guests of Makespace, Cambridge on Wednesday 14th August. Entry is free.

Makespace is a community run space in the centre of Cambridge, that houses manufacturing and prototyping kit and provides the surroundings to meet, work, build, socialise and do amazing things.

JK Brook of Bad Timing and David Chatting of the Curiosity Collective will introduce:

  • Richard Hoadley a composer who works with algorithms and live notations mediated with physical interaction.
  • Colin Dewar has created an automatic random art generator from an old Super 8 projector some ink and some electronics.
  • Tom Scott is a Multimedia artist who works with Super 8, audio and video media, in the digital realm. He will talk about his recent Postcard View project - incorporating the Raspberry Pi.

Plus, "OpenDorks" (short ad-hoc slots for anyone to talk about their work)

dorkbot encourages grassroots meetings of artists, engineers, designers, scientists, inventors and anyone else working under the very broad umbrella of electronic art. Started by Douglas Repetto at Columbia University in 2000, dorkbot is now global in almost 100 cities; dorkbot anglia is one of the newest.
