dorkbot anglia is a regular evening of talks and conversations with "people doing strange things with electricity" in the East Anglian area. We are delighted to announce our seventh meeting as the guests of the Ipswich Art School Gallery on Thursday 1st March. Entry is free.

Cad Taylor of Ipswich Community Radio introduces:

  • Julia Devonshire the arts project officer at the Ipswich Art School Gallery. Julia will talk about the current activities in the gallery and give us a flavour of the institution's history.
  • Mark Dixon who sculpts with a variety of technologies. Mark will discuss his plans to make large scale land artworks by creating drawings which respond to the seasons.
  • Amanda Gower a designer, researcher and digital artist. Amanda will share some perspectives on a few 3D virtual worlds she has designed for TV communities, mixed reality games and art installations.
  • John Bowers musician, sound artist, hardware hacker and academic. John will discuss some of his most recent work with the Rambert Dance Company interpreting David Tudor's "Rainforest", with a performance at the end of the evening.

Plus, "OpenDorks" (short ad-hoc slots for anyone to talk about their work)
