  • Week 1 (1/22): Introduction to the course structure, questionaire, introduction to the Interface Lab of the CMC, introduction to video tracking.
  • Week 2 (1/29): Introduce groups, Video tracking of movement tracking.
  • Week 3 (2/5): DIEM Suit Workshop.
  • Week 4 (2/12): Guest lecture: Paul Kaiser (Riverbed and creator of the digital arts of the works BIPED and Ghost Catching): BIPED (Merce Cunningham), Ghost Catching (Bill T Jones).
  • Week 5 (2/19): Custom Worn Sensor workshop: accelerometers, bend and force sensors.
  • Week 6 (2/26): External sensors: Mimio, Wacom, Tactex, Gyromouse.
  • Week 7 (3/5): Midterm Crit/Workshop 1.
  • Week 8 (3/19): Midterm Crit/Workshop 2.
  • Week 9 (3/26): Compositional structuring in dance. Lecture/dem. Obermayer/Soares
  • Week 10 (4/2): Guest lecture: Troika Ranch (NYC-based dance company with extensive experience in the use of interactive technologies).
  • Week 11 (4/9): Guest lecture: Curtis Bahn and Tomie Hahn (RPI/Tufts): Massachusetts dancer/computer musician duo will describe/demonstrate two works for interactive dance system.
  • Week 12 (4/16): Stochastic processes in movement, sound, image combination: Ianis Xenakis Polytopes Joint lab.
  • Week 13 (4/23): Final Projects Workshop.
  • FINALS (4/30): Presentation of final projects. Performance or installations show.
