The Course

This class will deal with the building blocks needed to create interactive music and installations. We will use Cycling 74's Max/MSP/Jitter to illustrate various methods of synthesis and create interactive works. Along the way, we will discuss the relevant digital audio fundamentals, listen to compositions that incorporate the techniques presented in class, and discuss the ear, psycho-acoustics, and the way that we hear and reproduce sound.

Grades will be based on the projects presented in class. Three patches during the beginning of the semester will determine 50% of the grade and the remaining 50% will be based on the final project.
