quence

hardware:   Apple MacBook M4 Air, Behringer model D synth (minimoog clone)
software:   Apple Logic Pro X, Max/MSP, RTcmix

A staple of many modular setups is a sequencer, often with a fairly complex control routing. I have a couple of them (Korg SQ-1s), but I doubt that I will buy any more. It's so easy to get [rtcmix~] running inside Max/MSP and routing the MIDI output into my modular system! With that capability I can create sequencer patches with whatever features I want. It's just basic RTcmix code.

The only tricky part is the timing. If I use the RTcmix/[rtcmix~] technique of recursively triggering the execution script, a small (buffer-sized) delay creeps in that is noticeable after a minute ir so. I found I can use the Max/MSP [metro] object to sync the [rtcmix~] processes. It still drifts a bit, but not enough to be a big problem. I can usually fix any perceptible problems in Logic.

And like I said, it's so easy! I know quence is a 'sequencer-ey' piece, but they are fun to do and hear. I may have to invest in some additional MIDI-to-CV modules to allow me to set up multiple control paths.
