Sequencing with synths is so much fun! I decided to embrace some
synthesis clichés and do a decidedly sequenced piece.
I did put a constraint -- for the synthesis I only used one of my
Behringer Model D minimoog clones. Hey, I love them Moog sounds!
Initially I was planning to use my Korg SQ-1 sequencer, but I find
it easier now to connect Max/MSP to my synths over USB and code up
a control sequencer using [rtcmix~].
It was indeed easy to set up the sequences. The hard part was determining
how long to let each sequenced part go. I could do a
"Klaus Schulze/Tangerine Dream" thing and let them go and go, but
I wanted a bit more structure for the piece. I also had fun
working with the transitions between each section.
