Apparently people need to be reminded, constantly, of how much he -- for example -- tells lies. This goofy piece is dedicated towards that end. I know it won't do much in the world, but what the heck. The quotes are actual recordings of our charming President reeling off a few whoppers, but I distorted them because almost everything that comes out of his mouth is a distortion.
There was another motivation behind this piece, related to that voice distortion. In my recent on-line shopping excursion to buy a few new Eurorack modules, the last one to arrive was a Rossum Panharmonium. It's a somewhat complex spectral resynthesizer. I had been wanting to explore it, and it turns out to be really good at distorting voices. Just the thing for my rendition of Smilin' Donald's quotes!
I could only include four of his untruths (no new wars, solve the Ukraine crisis in a day, Mexico will pay for the wall, and "I will bring peace and stability to the world". Yeah, that's a good one...) without the piece getting way too unwieldy. But he's told so many lies! He's told literally thousands and thousands of them! "Well, all those politicians lie, right?" Not like this. Not like this.
If I were a staunch believer in the fundamentalist Christian eschatology of Revelation (I'm not), I would know that Trump was indeed the Antichrist. 'The Prince of Lies' -- look it up.
