Continuing my "re"-exploration of various modules and pieces of
synthesis gear that I have accumulated in the last few years, I
thought it would be interesting to use my Korg SQ-1 sequencer to
do some sequence-y (duh!) music. I didn't want to do the typical
teutonic repeating step-sequence thing, although there is much to
explore with that approach. Instead I decided to use the SQ-1 to
control the timbre of repeated notes. I used some timbrally-rich
complex oscillators and filters to acheive the results.
And -- like many of my recent endeavours -- I didn't think it would
lead to much at first. But it turned out well, I think. I do like
this piece. I like the echo/delay processing I chose, too. It gives
the sound a sharp definition that sets it a bit apart from my other work.
So we'll see if it 'stands the test of time' and I will continue to
enjoy it. But for now, at least, I've had a good time.
