melodiseq1 came from my 'investigate the new modules' approach
I used to do the
modmod
and the
ModExplore
pieces (among others).
In particular, I was fooling around with the synthesis timbres
I could get from my new Osiris bifidelity wavetable
oscillator module. I had the idea
to drive it from a sequencer, rotating through various parameters
to get a shifting timbral spread. I had also been giving a few lectures
recently that included a discussion of my use of RTcmix to build
virtual sequencers, so I decided to build one for this piece. I also
decided not to do the 'typical' chunka-chunka beat/percussive sequencer
technique and instead slow the sequence down, hopefully generating a
more melodic result. Hence the name "melodiseq". I'm not sure I was
completely successful, but what the heck.
I also planned to do a set of these with different modules and virtual
sequencer configurations (this is "melodiseq ... 1 ..."), but life
intervened. I may come back to do more in the future.
