I liked the sound, and it worked well as an ending to my HappyChord composition. I also thought it might form a good base for a longer, ambient-like piece. So I stretched the length of that final passage out by a factor of 10 (I also tried a factor of 20, but it was a little too ambient for my taste). Instant computer-music ambience! Wheee!
But I wanted this to be a little different from the typical "paulstretch" ambient-stretched piece. I decided to add a bit of chaos in the background at certain points during the unfolding of the music. It also gave me a chance to experiment with some modules I hadn't used too much, like the After Later Audio "Benjolin V2" and the After Later Audio "Monsoon". You can hear these at the beginning of the piece and then somewhat subtley through the rest of the piece. Initially I thought I would build some 'sonic environments' with these tools, artificial rain or fake/enhanced waves on the seashore, but I'm not sure they come across in that manner. I do like them, though -- a little chaos peeking through the happiness.
