I decided to use ChatGPT to generate texts that I would use as the basis for a suite of short 'songs'. I've never really been that good with lyrics, so I figured I could hand their construction off to an artificial agent without too much angst. I gave ChatGPT one simple prompt, "make an abstract haiku", and I didn't refine the output at all. These were four texts that it produced:
Moon forgets its name A blue silence folds inward Nothing blooms twice Glass dreams beneath rain A shadow learns how to breathe Silence turns to blue The moon misplaces A thought beneath the quiet Night folds into dust Blue silence unthreads A shadow dreams of becoming Time forgets its shapeThere were interesting recurrences in the output; "blue", "moon", "shadow", "dreams", "silence" -- probably because I didn't change the input prompt at all. I guess this is representative of the 'true' inner vioce of ChatGPT. t seems kind of melancholy to me.
I used recordings of
basic readings of these texts to build many of the sonic features
of the music. I realize that often the words are unintelligible, but
that's because I was using them as sound, not as coherent text. I wanted
the words to be a part of the audio itself.
