CURRENCY

You can exchange any foreign currency to Greek drachmas at any Bank in town or at Private Exchange Offices. Banks are open from 9:00 till 14:00 and Private Exchange Offices are open during 08:00-14:00 and 17:00-20:00. Banks usually offer better exchange rates than private exchange offices. There is also a Bank booth at the airport. The official exchange rate for the US-dollar on the 16th July 1996 was: $1 = 235 greek drachmas.

PASSPORT and VISA

All visitors to Greece must have a valid passport. Visitors from most countries are not required to have a special visa. For further detailed information you can consult the closest Greek Embassy or Consulate.

ELECTRICITY

Electrical power throughout Greece is 220 Volts, AC 50Hz. If you are bringing your own equipment please remember to bring the converters you will need.
