Ensemble 2e2m

Ensemble 2e2m was founded in 1972. Since then, the siglum 2e2m (signifying "etudes et expressions des modes musicaux" or "studies and performances of musical modes") has become an acknowledged synonumym for pluralism and open-mindedness. Under its leader Paul Mefano, the group has always made abundantly clear that it has no wish to become involved in chapels and dogmas, preferring to espouse the metamorphoses of its own times and concentrate on the quest for quality whenever it may be found. Today . Ensemble 2e2m is the oldest-established group in France devoted to contemporary music. This means that it has been in touch for over two decades, in France and elsewhere, with every development in the field of living sound. The Ensemble has premiered over six hundred works and has founded its own record label. Ensemble 2e2m is supported by the city of Champigny-sur-Marne, the country of Valde-Marne, the city of Paris and the French Ministry of Culture.

2e2m will participate in ICMC 97 with the following instrumentation:
Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Bassoon, Trombone, Cello, Double Bass, Percussion and Conductor.

SurPlus

SurPlus was formed in 1992 and plays chamber music ranging from duos to larger combinations up to 16 instruments. Its primary objective is to give new or unknown works an optimal performance - similar to Schonberg's Verein fur musikalische Privatauffuhrungen-regardless of compositional style or technical and intellectual demands.
Since its formation in 1992 SurPlus has performed in Darmstadt, Geneva, Aachen, Bremen, Stuttgart, Vevey, Vienna, Luxemburg, Freiburg, Heilbronn and Odessa.

SurPlus will participate in ICMC 97 with the following instrumentation:
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, 2 Violins, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Piano, Percussion, Soprano and Conductor.

Ensemble FA

FA was formed in 1987 by the French Instituts of Bonn and Bremen. Under the musical direction of Dominique My FA undertakes the performance and creation of new musical pieces, and the exploitation of the contemporary repertoire.

FA has performed a session annually at the Chapelle Auguste Perret at Arcueil from 1990 until 1994, and from 1992 on at the Theatre d'Arras. It is invited regularly at Festivals such as Musica Strasburg, Biennale de Venise, Radio-France, Ars Musica Bruxelles, Archipel Geneve, Ultima Oslo, Festival de Malmo, Festival d'Automne a Paris.

Flute, Clarinet, Horn, Trombone, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Piano, Percussion and Conductor.

Ensemble Theta

Theta was formed in June 1996 with the support of the Organization for the Cultural Capital of Europe 'Thessaloniki 1997' and under the direction of the composer Theodore Antoniou. It is the only ensemble in Thessaloniki specialising on music composed for computer and acoustic instruments. Its members are young musicians interested in contemporary music who were selected after auditions that were held in Thessaloniki in June 1996. "Theta" will present two concerts with computer works by Greek composers in Spring of 1997. These concerts will serve as preparatory events for ICMC 97. Theta will continue to be in residence at IPSA after the conclusion of ICMC 97.
