Mata Sakka was born in Larisa, Greece. She received her BFA in Dance and her Dance Teacher's Diploma from the Center of Performing Arts in Athens, Greece. She is currently working towards her Cunningham Dance Technique Certificate at the Cunningham Dance studio. She is also a graduate student at the Pratt Institute Dance Therapy program. She is currently a fellow of the Greek National Scholarship Foundation. She has danced with a number of professional dance companies in Greece and in NYC. She has presented four of her choreographies in Greece and in the US. She was the coordinator of the interactive technologies day of the 1997 International Computer Music Conference (ICMC97).
