As people are creative, not computers, Daniel Oppenheim works to develop computer technologies that better support and encourage our natural abilities. Dr. Oppenheim, a composer, inventor, and designer, was the first researcher to join the IBM Computer Music Center in October 1993. Aside for his interactive computer music he is known for his DMIX software (an interactive environment for music composition and performance), for the development of Music Morpher, and for his co-design of KidRiffs, a music exploration program for children that emphasizes the musical experience. Currently Dr. Oppenheim is involved with the design and development of Music Sketcher, an environment that explores new paradigms for composing and interacting with music.
