After a 2-year stint with a rock group, David Jameson decided he would prefer to eat well and went back to college where he earned his undergraduate and doctoral degrees in computer science from Trinity College, Dublin, in Ireland. He has been at IBM Research for 13 years and worked on a variety of projects including user interfaces for the visually disabled and juggling robots before creating the Computer Music Center (CMC) in 1993.

Within the CMC, team members focus both on construction of music software as well as on several computer science fields including real-time systems and visual programming languages both of which enhance our ability to make more sophisticated interactive music tools. A not totally unexpected side benefit is that these other fields are valuable to other activities with the IBM corporation.

Dr. Jameson's current research interests are interactive computer music systems, real-time systems, programming languages, debugging techniques, and consumer information technology.
