David Birchfield is a composer/performer currently pursuing graduate studies at Columbia University. Principal teachers include Fred Lerdahl, Jonathan Kramer, Allen Otte, Betsy Jolas, and Samuel Adler. In addition to his compositional work, David also studied percussion with the Percussion Group Cincinnati while attending the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He has written instrumental, vocal, and electro-acoustic music including a number of collaborative works for dance and theater.
