Introduction:

This module lets you mix together four images in different ways. One image is assigned to each disc in the disc-o-master. As the discs move the images are drawn on the screen.

If there are more than four discs in the pool then the same image will be used by multiple discs. For instance, if there are five discs, then both the first and the fifth disc will draw with the first image.

Controls:

load image for:
Press these buttons to load new images for the discs. Only jpeg, gif and tiff images are supported.

drawing mode:
The drawing mode determines how new images are drawn over the old images.

• In clobber mode the new image erases the previous image.
• In blend mode the new image is slowly blended with the previous image.

clear screen every:
Use this menu to select how often the screen is automatically cleared.

clear screen now:
Press this button to clear the screen immediately.

Activities

• You can load your own images into the pixmix-module. Find images on the internet that you think will blend well together. (Hint: the drawing area is 300x300 pixels, so try to find images that are about that same size.)
• How does seeing certain images together change the meaning of each image?
• Load images of different faces. Set up some walls so that each disc only draws a part of each face (eyes, nose, mouth). See if you can make one new face from a combination of the four faces.
