Assignment
+ download and install
one or more of these:
- [rtcmix~]
-- download at least one version of this object to use with Max/MSP or
pd on Windows or OSX. The "WSL2" instructions will allow you to
run RTcmix 'standalone' on a Windows machine using a linux distro,
if you'd like to do that too.
- RTcmixShell
-- this will run 'standalone' on both Windows and OSX machines.
-
note: Obviously you will also need either
Max/MSP or
pd (Pure Data)
running on your machine to use [rtcmix~]. Grab
one (or both) of them if you don't have one installed already.
You can also install the 'standalone' version of RTcmix for Linux
or OSX machines by downloading it from the main
RTcmix web site.
also install:
- Unity
note: this will take you to the main Unity page, and you'll need to click
through a bunch of pages to find the download. It's probably easiest
to go directly here:
to get the package. "Unity Hub" is a way of managing your Unity
downloads and projects; it's up to you if you want to use it. The
place to get direct standlone Unity is here:
I'm currently using 2019.2.17F1 version of the Unity editor.
Be sure (when asked) to say you
are using the "personal" version for free. The others cost money
and are mainly used if you are developing a product with Unity.
you may also need:
- Xcode/iOS Developer Tools
-- you don't really need this, but it's handy to have
- Visual Studio
-- I think you need this for Windows/Unity, but it may be included in
the Unity install. I also don't know that it
is necessary for OSX, but Unity is set up to work with it so it's not a
bad idea to install it. Plus it's free.
+ do the roll-a-ball
Unity tutorial. It's fun!
