class vids

I don't have any vids done in time! Aaaugh! I'll get some up here -- promise! I think especially a tutorial on the RTcmix LOCALIZE() instrument is definitely needed. In the meantime...

Ok, I did get a video made for how to use LOCALIZE(). Here it is:

Class Downloads

To make things simple, I only used plants, etc. that I could find in the "Standard Assets" package.

Here are the Unity projects and Max/MSP patches used in the videos:



• week13-terrain1.zip -- build the garden. The two scenes ("terrain-scene1a.unity" and "terrain-scene1b.unity") are similar; some lighting changes and I added a discrete particle-system for fun in "terrain-scene1b"
  
  
• week13-garden1.zip -- proximity-triggering of sound, "sound1.unity" uses distance, "sound1a.unity" uses a non-rendered boundary, and "sound1b.unity" has three sources located in different positions
  
  
• week13-garden2.zip -- sound source amplitude dependent upon distance. "sound2.unity" does simple distance/amplitude, and "sound2a.unity" uses the LOCALIZE() RTcmix instrumen to calculate distance/amplitude from three sound sources. NOTE: The sources are mono! What would it take to preserve the stereo in the original recordings? (hint -- LOCALIZE() processes one channel at a time)
  
  
• gardenplay1.maxpat.zip -- Max/MSP patch (with rtcmix~) showing how to do the random selection from the source soundfiles (you will have to modify the rtinput() statement to reflect where you have the source soundfiles on your system.
  
  
• garden-sounds.zip -- the source soundfiles for the projects this week (thanks Nina!)
