RTcmix synthesis and DSP 2
Our whirlwind tour of RTcmix is finished this week (sort of...). We covered
basic filter theory and a few simple agorithmic operations with arrays
and probabilities. Of course we barely scratched the surface of
what is possible, both on the 'DSP/synthesis' level and the
algoritmic-composition and external inteface/control level. Time
to tramslate all this into XCode, though.
Do try to bring in an RTcmix script for next class. We'll work to
migrate that script into XCode to run on an iPhone or iPad.
Links
- Luke's Filter Page
-- Luke DuBois wrote this short tutorial about filter theory awhile
ago, it's still really good.
- Miller Puckette's book
-- Miller put an entire book on-line about DSP techniques! What a guy!
It's really good, examples are in pd.
- Julius O. Smith's publications
-- These are fairly advance DSP papers, but Julius is kind of the
'godfather' of physical modeling. Very good resource if you want
to learn a lot about this stuff.
