Projects, projects...
This was the "tell us your grandiose plans to take over zee vorld"
day.

Here are my brief notes scribbled about the projects:
Rowan Gerety:
make a piece, using a lot of our software for DSP, based on
sounds recorded from around the building.
we talked about
different possibilities in presenting this work; use it as
'ambient' sound throughout Prentis, ways of employing
focused listening through distributed headphones, etc.
Sam Pluta:
96 piezo array, lay down underneath, controlled by joysticks
he has a prototype made
also, live processing, live video integrated with laptop performance
frantic stripes and squares.
discussion about combining these
two ideas -- hey, we'll call it the "supersonic sam sensorium"!
again, more discussion about ways of presenting this work.
some questions about the tech aspects of what Sam showed, really
impressive stuff.
Mario Diaz de Leon:
cymatics, modal resonances as installation, fluid being driven
by audio; Chladni figures
trying to make interesting music to generate the shapes
acoustic levitation -- another example.
very interesting video examples of the kinds of things Mario's
been considering. Lots of discussion about the possibilities
in doing these sorts of cross-modal realizations. Mario
sent a bunch of links to the class examples he showed:
Class
One thing to say again -- don't feel particularly constrained or
restricted by what you've outlined in class! Do stuff you want to do!
Also, we're here to help; there is a lot of expertise at and around
the CMC. Tap into it if you can.
