Computer Music Class Documentation (G6611/spring-2003)
These are intended to assist in negotiating our software
and hardware -- some are very basic, and some are rather esoteric.
Topics specific to a particular class can also be found by clicking
on the appropriate class-day listing in the
course syllabus.
We will also be placing a few links to other general computer-music
information sites here. Let us know what else you'd like
to see!

RTcmix
"beta" RTcmix documentation
-- the latest RTcmix docs, very incomplete. See
The Main RTcmix Web Page
for more info, but this is a bit dated. We're getting there!
RTcmix.tar.gz
-- this is the most up-to-date RTcmix distribution (3/2003), and
also includes the "insts.std", "insts.jg", and "imbed"
packages (all these components are separately download-able
below). This is presently configured for Mac OS X and
assumes that the package will be in /usr/local/src/RTcmix.
This is easily changed to Linux or to a different installation
location by modify the "makefile.conf" file in the
top level.
RTcmix-3.4.tar.gz
-- the latest RTcmix core distribution
insts.std-3.4.tar.gz
-- the 'standard' set of RTcmix instruments
insts.jg-3.4.tar.gz
-- John Gibson's additional fun instruments
imbed-3.4.tar.gz
-- examples of how the 'imbedded' RTcmix works
The Main RTcmix Web Page
-- unfortunately kind of dated (check out the download for
version 2.0...); we'll be upgrading it soon! The tutorials
may be useful, however.
MINC music-algorithm tutorial
-- Chris Bailey's updated tutorial on doing algorithmic music
using the RTcmix parsing-language MINC
JSyn
SuperCollider
Audiosynth
-- the main SuperCollider web page. Go here to download
SuperCollider v. 2 for MacOS9.x
getting SC3
-- instructions on downloading SC3 (see the "Anonymous CVS checkout"
section) and compiling it (see the "Compiling the sources" section)
The SC swiki site
-- code examples and info for both SC2 and SC3
SC2 documentation
-- tutorials and UGen descriptions; also useful for SC3
Smalltalk documentation
-- for those who really want to get into SuperCollider.
Smalltalk is the langauge SC uses, although the SC version
seems somewhat modified in syntax
