week8
Douglas Repetto was the special guest-star for this class.
Douglas is pretty much the life/organism/robot personage around the CMC,
and his talk hit on some fairly provocative issues having to
do with life-based art today. What a guy. :-)

If you'd like some of Douglas' code example, hunt him down
in the halls of Prentis or send e-mail to

flocking algorithm examples
- flock.tar.gz
-- source code for the simple wxwindows flocking thing
we did in class (follow the mouse, make sound)
- xboids.tar.gz
-- source for the "xboids" flocking example, set to compile
and run on MacOSX using the Apple X11 app
Although this whole class was devoted to Douglas' talk, I've included
code here for the "flocking algorithm" example we discussed in the
following class because it seemed, like, relevant somehow, ya know?
I haven't put in any "flocking" links above, because there are
many. Do a google search for flocking algorithm, boids,
or Craig Reynolds and you will be able to find your own.
