Nicola then showed various aspects of the IRCAM MuBu ML/AI/analysis package, including a live improvisation session using MuBU that he had recorded previously. Pretty powerful stuff.

• Max/MSP on-line tutorials and
• Max/MSP on-line documentation
  -- I think these are also included in your Max/MSP app download. They are useful, but the problem is that they start with very basic uses of Max/MSP (they are 'tutorials' after all...), and often you may want a look at objects that will do particular, perhaps even relatively advanced things.
  
  
• Max cookbook -- this is a good solution to the 'tutorial' problem just mentioned. UC-Irvine faculty member Chris Dobrian has put together a pretty decent book showing techniques that are useful in developiing many Max/MSP patches. There are quite a few other texts like this (just google), but Nicola and I both think this book is one of the better ones.
  
  
• MuBu -- this is where the documentation/download site for MuBu lives (or use Nicola's patches in the "Class Downloads" archive below). This is part of the larger Sound Music Movement - Interaction (ISMM) project at IRCAM.
  
  
• the Sonic Visualizer -- the web page for the feature-packed Sonic Visualizer app from Queen Mary University of London. It has many, many sonic descriptors and can show you which ones you might want to use in MuBu patches.
