Programming: Sound in Processing
- Functions, get yer functions heeyah!
- Lets do a little function review.
- Sound in Processing
- This week we are beginning our work with sound. There are a couple of libraries for working with sound in Processing. We will mostly be talking about Mimin. This is a stable library with good documentation. Those of you who reach the limitations of Minim should explore Jsyn, which is a native Java library with many more features than Minim. However, be aware that there is currently no help for the native Java version of Jsyn, and is therefore it is only recommended for the more advanced programmers.
- Installing Libraries:
- Libraries must be put inside your "Processing/libraries/" folder. If that doesn't exist, you have to create it. (The Processing/ folder is the same place where you put all your Processing projects)
- Get the Minim library here
- Get the Jsyn library here
- Synthesis and Effects:
Assignment: DUE Wednesday March 9th
Make a sequencer using synthesis techniques and effects. This could be monophonic or polyphonic, be set before you run it or have user input, etc. There are many ways to go about this.
Have fun and email us with questions if you have them!
