Changing the Amplitude of a Sound
Let’s hear what happens when we change the amplitude of a sound.
We will play a noise signal and display the signal on the oscilloscope. The oscilloscope plots the amplitude of the signal versus time. To change the amplitude of a signal in the computer, we simply multiply the signal by a number.
To do:
- Move the amplitude fader back and forth.
- Notice the effect on the sound.
- Notice that the signal in the oscilloscope gets larger and smaller.
