There are now so many interesting tools to use for music-creation!
I still enjoy seeing how different interfaces/different music-concepts
and approaches change the way I build pieces. And also what stays
constant. I've been around the block enough to know how to get
certain musical effects, but I'm happy when I still get surprised
by something that the particular software I am using enables.
Using the 'virtual' modular synthesis package
VCV Rack
definitely engaged those methodologies. Of course part of the kick for
me is to integrate the older work I've done, so the VCV modules
were controlled by RTcmix algorithmic processes. I enjoyed this
so much I plan to do more -- also with my real modular gear now
that I'm back on Whidbey.
