I started this piece while I was in the transplant unit of
Weill-Cornell hospital, waiting for the heavy chemo and
stem-cell transplant to 'kick in'. It did. I finished it
at home, going through the slow recovery.
I was only able to do a little bit each day because I
was sleeping for much of the time. It was nice to have
something to take my mind off my body for a while.

This wasn't one of the more pleasant things I've done. The process
has to unfold. The outcome will (hopefully!) be good, though.
