I was really sailing through piece-production this past summer!
I didn't have much time to write the 'additional
commentary' part for several of the pieces
(seqdelay being one of them), so I put it off for later.
I did write a few cryptic lines in a text file, though.
For seqdelay, I wrote:
slop factor
design a piece for stretching
I'm not sure what I meant. The 'slop factor' is obviously
a reference to the timing I was working on in this piece
(see the original
program note
for a short discussion). I did discover that if I want to maintain
strong timing while using RTcmix/rtcmix~, I needed to trigger the
scripts using the Max/MSP timing objects (like metro). There is
a buffer-gap that can become noticeable if I internally retrigger rtcmix~
repeatedly.
The 'design a piece for stretching' has to do
with the second piece listed on the web page, using the
paulstretch.app
to 'ambientize' it.
