I really love the sound of a piano. It's the sound of my childhood, my life. This piece has a 'deliberate' pacing (Jill said: "it's very slow") to allow the piano sound to expand, to breathe. And, as I noted in the original web page, the music comes from playing our piano from my Indiana home for the last time. I spent hours sitting, playing and singing(!) at that very piano.

When I did the polyends pieces a few weeks ago with my latest synth purchase, I thought that the cloud of sound it produced with the patch I built might work well to surround the slow chords in this piece. It's silly, but I also liked the idea of the very first keyboard I played coupled with my most recent synth purchase. I had already been thinking about how the piece would go. And the low moog-synth sound that comes a little past half-way through (Jill's favorite part) is also a nod to my youth. A Moog!

These things, and many others, all came together for this piece. That was me then, this is me now.
