FG: Karl Fury's House - Jan2013, Pennington, NJ
(1/26/2013)
Karl and Brad
I've known Karl for quite some time. He's a meticulous house painter/fixer,
and he's also an extraordinary musician (with an amazing collection
of guitar and guitar-like instruments). He and his crew were out doing
some work on our house, and we finally decided to get together to do some
music-making. Karl had been sending me some of his recent music -- great
stuff! We had been planning to do this for awhile. In fact, when Gregory
Taylor was here prior to our
Electroacoustic Barn Dance
performance, we were set to do some playing with Karl when Hurricane Sandy
and the freak October snowstorm took out our electricity for over a week.
It's tricky to play a laptop with no power.
This time we worked it out, and I'm really glad we did. I'm always happily
surprised at how well these things tend to go. Karl is used to many layers
of processing on his guitar sound. A lot of what you hear in the
above pieces is from his own setup. Of course we plan to do this again!
