The story behind the three pieces on this page: One day while wandering the halls of the CMC, I heard some amazing blues-guitar riffs coming from the (rather spartan) office Miller had selected for his stay with us. I was surprised, because I knew Miller primarily did 'high modernism' musical work, even though I was aware of a potential musical alter-ego. What I heard was pretty snazzy guitaristry, so I quickly asked Miller if I could grab a recording of his playing. Turns out he had about 1.5 hours already recorded; he uses his guitar to test out new DSP and controller ideas.
Armed with this arsenal of Puckette-ish guitar recordings (and finally grabbing a bit of time to work on them months after Miller had returned to Southern-CA), I put together the above pieces. Nearly all the sounds come from Miller's recordings. Many I heavily-processed after-the-fact, obviously. The only exceptions are a few drum samples in the first piece and some additional guitar-work by Yours Truly in the first and second pieces. Hey, I couldn't resist another chance to jam along with Miller.
So this is my feeble "thank you" to Miller for the excellent
visit with us. We miss ya!
